Article Types

We accept the following types of articles:

  • Original Articles: Reports of original research (max 4000 words)
  • Case Reports: Descriptions of interesting or unusual cases (max 2000 words)
  • Reviews: Comprehensive reviews of current topics (max 5000 words)
  • Editorials: Opinion pieces on relevant topics (max 1500 words)
  • Letters to the Editor: Brief communications (max 800 words)

Manuscript Preparation

General Guidelines

  • Manuscripts should be written in clear, concise English
  • Use double spacing and 12-point font
  • Number all pages consecutively
  • Include line numbers for ease of review
  • Figures and tables must be included within the manuscript file, not submitted separately

File Naming Guidelines

  • File name should NOT be the same as the manuscript title
  • Do NOT name your file as "manuscript", "final", or similar generic names
  • File name format: [3 letters from subject][3 letters from author name]_1.1.docx
  • Example: If the subject is "Inguinal Hernia" and author is "Sharma", the file name would be IngSha_1.1.docx

Structure

Original articles should follow this structure:

  1. Title Page: Title, authors, affiliations, corresponding author details
  2. Abstract: Structured abstract (Background, Methods, Results, Conclusions) - max 300 words
  3. Keywords: 4-6 keywords
  4. Introduction: Background and objectives
  5. Methods: Study design, participants, procedures, statistical analysis
  6. Results: Main findings
  7. Discussion: Interpretation, limitations, implications
  8. Conclusion: Brief summary of main findings
  9. References: Vancouver style

Ethical Considerations

  • All research involving human subjects must have ethics committee approval
  • Informed consent must be obtained for case reports and identifiable patient data
  • Conflicts of interest must be disclosed
  • Authors must confirm that the work is original and not under consideration elsewhere

Review Process

All submissions undergo initial editorial review followed by double-blind peer review. The review process follows Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) guidelines. Authors can expect an initial decision within 4-6 weeks of submission. Accepted articles are typically published online within 2-4 weeks of acceptance.

Publication Charges

There are no article processing charges (APCs) for publishing in Pediatric Surgery in Tropics. All articles are freely accessible to readers worldwide.
